Dear Families,
Our school is a truly special place—where dedicated teachers, a strong bilingual curriculum, and well-designed systems come together to help every child succeed.
Our community is thriving with 300+ students, new middle school pathways, and excellent results in Grade 4 National Assessments (NVO). Looking ahead, we are building even stronger foundations: preparing for a dual diploma high school, positioning Maple Bear Sofia as a leader in innovation, and continuing to achieve excellence in national assessments.
We believe that partnering with parents is an essential part of the educational process. At Maple Bear, we often talk about the “triangle” of teachers, students, and families—when all three sides are strong and connected, children thrive. Parents’ involvement and support, combined with our teaching and your child’s effort, create the foundation for both academic achievement and personal growth.
Here’s to learning, joy, and success—together!
Warmly,
Mariana Castañon
Principal, Maple Bear Sofia
Founded in 2020, Maple Bear School Sofia has grown from humble beginnings to become a beacon of educational excellence in our community. Through dedication and innovation, we’ve built a strong reputation for fostering curiosity, creativity, and confidence in every student.
Maple Bear School Sofia opened in Boyana, welcoming students in the primary stage and offering a bilingual program that combines the Bulgarian national curriculum with the Canadian Maple Bear curriculum in English.
Kambanite became home to our second school location, opening its doors to primary stage students.
We proudly celebrate reaching 300 students enrolled at Maple Bear School Sofia.
Our first class of Grade 4 students graduated with success.
Our school successfully obtained a license for the middle school level from the Ministry of Education and Science.
At Maple Bear School Sofia, our students RISE—growing with Respect, Integrity, Strength, and Enthusiasm at the heart of their learning journey. These core values are deeply woven into everything we do, guiding not only academic progress but also social and emotional development.
We are proud to bring the best of Canadian education to the local landscape—blending innovation with a global perspective. Our school is more than a place of learning; it’s a nurturing environment where children are encouraged to explore their potential, discover their passions, and grow into confident, capable individuals.
We believe in giving back. From our annual Terry Fox charity run to our vibrant Earth Day initiatives, we actively promote social responsibility and sustainability. Through meaningful partnerships with organizations such as Remix and Greenpeace Bulgaria, our students learn the importance of protecting the world around them.
We are equally proud of the spirit of curiosity we foster in our students. Our Science Fair inspires hands-on discovery, and in a groundbreaking moment for Bulgarian education, Maple Bear became the first school in the country to establish live radio contact with the International Space Station—an unforgettable experience that brought science to life in the most real and exciting way.
Outside the classroom, our students shine just as brightly. From academic achievements to national cheerleading competitions, they continue to demonstrate determination, talent, and teamwork.
At Maple Bear Sofia, we celebrate every milestone—especially the one that matters most: the growth and success of our students.
